Angelo State Men’s Basketball Picked 6th in LSC Preseason Poll

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State men's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll.

The Rams, led by fourth-year head coach Vinay Patel, tied Eastern New Mexico for the sixth spot in the poll.

Defending regional champion Dallas Baptist was picked to repeat as LSC champions, receiving 42 of 51 first-place votes, tallying 850 points.

St. Mary's was picked second, followed by Lubbock Christian, St. Edward's and West Texas A&M.

After ASU and Eastern New Mexico, Midwestern State was eighth, UT Permian Basin was ninth, and Texas A&M International was 10th.

The Rams open the season Nov. 7-9 in Billings, Montana, as the D2CCA Men’s Basketball Tip-Off Classic, where they’ll play Nebraska-Kearney, New Mexico Highlands and Colorado Mines.

ASU will make its home debut Nov. 14 at noon against Western Colorado.

Last year, the Rams went 17-12 and were knocked out in the first round of the LSC Tournament.
