SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State Rambelles women’s soccer team will look to continue the Belles' strong run in Lone Star Conference play Saturday when the ladies host St. Mary’s at 1 p.m. at the LeGrand Soccer Complex.
The Rambelles (4-2-4, 3-1-2 LSC) enter the weekend coming off a key stretch of conference success as they aim to defend their 2024 regular-season and tournament championships. The Belles won 2-0 at Sul Ross State before returning home to notch another 2-0 win over West Texas A&M.
Head coach Travis McCorkle spoke to the media about the Rambelles' wins last week and what he expects from the ladies moving forward at his weekly press conference on Monday. Watch that video below:
Sanai Stewart leads the Belles with five goals this season, while Abby James has tallied a team-high five assists. Ten different Rambelles have scored through 10 matches, including Stewart, James, Emily Thames, Christina Clark, Carley Martinez, Whitni Newbill, Graycen Rasmussen, Wrilyn Shippey, Jillian Greaves, and Lexi Gonzales.
Martinez and Rasmussen each netted their first goals of the year in last week’s win over Oklahoma Christian, while Shippey scored her first career goal earlier in the season against Oklahoma Baptist.
Angelo State has posted three shutouts this season behind a defensive unit anchored by All-American Christina Clark and senior captain Harper Saxon, who was named among the LSC’s defensive players to watch.
Angelo State leads the all-time series against St. Mary’s 9-5 and won last season’s matchup 2-0 on Oct. 16, 2024.
The Rattlers (5-4-1, 4-3 LSC) are led by forward Shelby Paniagua, who has seven goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Haley Faucette has recorded three shutouts this season.
The Rambelles have qualified for the Lone Star Conference Tournament every year since 2010 and were picked to finish second in the 2025 preseason poll, just behind Dallas Baptist. Last year’s squad finished 14-2-5 overall and advanced to the South Central Regional finals for the first time in school history.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at LeGrand Soccer Complex in San Angelo.
