BROWNFIELD, TX — The Lake View Chiefs have dropped two games in a row but have a good chance to get a win against the 0-6 Brownfield Cubs on Friday.
After starting the season 4-0, the Chiefs have dropped consecutive games to Levelland and Burnet, but they should get back in the win column this week as they prepare for Brownfield.
The Cubs have given up over 42 points in every game so far, being outscored by opponents 290-86. Brownfield is scoring 14.3 points and giving up 48.3 points per game.
Yes, the Chiefs (4-2) have a very good chance to start getting momentum back with district play right around the corner.
Last week, Chiefs quarterback Chris Alvizo played well, completing 23 of 36 passes for 264 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for 84 yards on the ground.
Izaiah Rios rushed 19 times for 101 yards, bringing his season total to 813.
Braylon White led all receivers last week with 107 yards and two scores, and Chris Rodela caught six passes for 58 yards and two touchdowns as well. Cristian Esparza, DJ Munoz, Rios, and Gabriel Alvarez had 35, 27, 20, and 17 yards, respectively, with Alvarez getting into the end zone once.
The Burnet game gave White over 400 yards and 6 TDs on the season.
Even though the Chiefs dropped the Burnet game and scored a season-low 33 points against Levelland, they still average 42.3 points a game. Over the last two games, the War Party Defense has given up 86 points, something they must fix this week before district. Lake View is giving up an average of 32.8 points, which still gives them a 10-point edge.
The Lake View Chiefs take on the Brownfield Cubs on the road at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10.
