SAN ANGELO, TX — The Grape Creek Eagles cruised to their third straight win Friday with a 49-12 victory over San Angelo TLCA.
Grape Creek running back Darrell West was held under 100 yards for the first time this year, but he still turned nine carries into 54 yards and three touchdowns.
Fullback Sire Garcia led the way with seven carries for 67 yards and a TD. Running back Anthony Saavedra and quarterback Braley Woods also had TD runs.
Woods threw a 15-yard TD pass to Ian Cochran and connected with Ashton Ortiz for a 60-yard catch.
Safety Gabe Santillan had a team-high 12 tackles to lead the defense, while defensive tackle Lawson Thiers had 10 stops.
Grape Creek completed its nondistrict schedule with a 4-2 record and will play at Coahoma (5-1) next week to begin District 4-3A Division II play.
TLCA fell to 0-5 on the season, but the Eagles continued their trend of improving on every result from last year.
TLCA will host Sweetwater next week to open play in District 3-3A Division I.
