Angelo State Rams Move to No. 5 in National Rankings

SAN ANGELO, TX — Despite not playing last week, the Angelo State University football team moved up one spot to No. 5 in the national rankings.

The Rams made the jump after then-No. 4 Slippery Rock lost last week 45-38 to No. 8 California (Pennsylvania), which is now at No. 6.

ASU has steadily climbed the rankings after debuting at No. 12 in the American Football Coaches Association NCAA Division II rankings.

The Rams are 4-0 to start the year after wins over Fort Hays State (28-7) and Emporia State (41-20), Eastern New Mexico (31-20) and Western New Mexico (56-27).

ASU will host a Top 10 matchup this week when No. 9 UT Permian Basin comes to town. That game is set for 6 p.m. Saturday at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.
