Angelo State Rams Beat Emporia, Lose QB Fuller to Injury

SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 10-ranked Angelo State University football team defeated Emporia State 41-20 on Saturday, but it may have come with a cost.

Quarterback Braeden Fuller, the reigning Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Year, was injured on a run less than four minutes into the game.

He walked off the field but did not return.

The Rams were already up 13-0 at that point after a fast start, and backup QB Kaeden Smith came on and scored on a 2-yard TD run to make it 20-0 moments later.

Smith threw two TD passes to Hunter Wallis to help the Rams hold off the Hornets after they got as close as 34-20.

ASU struck quickly to start the game when Fuller hit Corey Sandolph for a 70-yard TD pass.

Demetrias Charles then had an interception return for a TD to make it 13-0, one of two INTs he had. Xavier Walton also had two INTs.

ASU improved to 2-0 with the win, avenging both losses from last year when the Rams started 0-2.

ASU will play again next week at Eastern New Mexico to open LSC play.
