Lake View Dominates to Claim Victory Over Snyder

SNYDER, TX — Explosive plays and tough defense defined the contest between the Lake View Chiefs (2-0) and the Snyder Tigers (0-2) on Friday night.

Chiefs’ quarterback Chris Alvizo threw five TD passes as Lake View downed Snyder 49-28.

Hear from head coach Hector Guevara after the game below:

After a pair of punts to start the contest, Lake View struck first with a 17-yard TD pass from Alvizo to Cristian Esparza. The Chiefs' defense played great in the first half, forcing three takeaways and a turnover on downs to give the offense more chances to score.

Lake View capitalized on the stellar defensive play with three more TDs. Izaiah Rios scored from five yards out late in the first quarter before Esparza and Alvizo connected on a 39-yard TD pass early in the second quarter. Lake View added another TD with under two minutes to play in the half. This time, Alvizo hit DJ Munoz for the short score.

Snyder proved that they had no quit in them despite being down 28 points. With just over a minute to play in the second quarter, the Tigers put together an 80-plus yard TD drive that included converting a third and 20. Snyder finally managed to get on the board with less than 10 seconds to go in the half, but Lake View still led big at the break, 28-6.

The Tigers came out of the locker room in the second half and picked up where they left off. Snyder marched down the field and put up another TD. Now with the Tigers within two scores, Lake View needed an answer.

That answer came near the end of the third quarter. Rios scored his second TD of the evening off a little slip screen just outside the 5-yard line. Up 35-14, the game was essentially over entering the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, Snyder refused to give up. The Tigers managed two more TDs, but so did the Chiefs. Braylon White hauled in his first TD pass from Alvizo.

The Chiefs’ signal caller took a seat after that and finished with another impressive stat line. Alvizo was 23-of-33 passing for 276 yards and five TDs with one INT.

White had six catches for 50 yards and a TD, while Munoz had three catches for 37 yards and two TDs, plus an INT on defense.
