SAN ANGELO, TX — Only twice in the last decade have the Lake View Chiefs started out a football season undefeated after two weeks. After the Chiefs flattened Fort Stockton 42-7 in Lake View's home opener at San Angelo Stadium last week, the Chiefs have another opportunity for a hot start to 2025.
Hear head coach Hector Guevara ahead of the matchup below:
The Chiefs travel to Snyder this Friday, Sept. 5, to take on the Tigers at the historic Grant Teaff Stadium. After an opening double overtime loss to Pecos, 36-28, last week, the Tigers are sure to be hungry for their first win.
Last season, Lake View lost a close matchup to the Tigers at home, 40-34, in a game the Chiefs could have won. It was the Tigers' sole win in 2024. Lake View looks to avenge this loss with the Chiefs' veteran offense on Friday.
Leading the charge in last week's win had to be quarterback Chris Alvizo. The junior quarterback put forth a stellar performance against Fort Stockton last week, finishing the contest 20-of-28 passing for 272 yards and four touchdowns. He looked comfortable in the pocket when he had time to throw and hit several different receivers with accuracy. On the ground, Izaiah Rios looks to be the lead back moving forward. Against Fort Stockton, Rios carried the rock seven times for 87 yards. His 12.4 yards per carry will be an asset if he can replicate those same numbers against Snyder this weekend.

The Lake View Chiefs football team charges out of the tunnel before its game against Big Spring on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, at San Angelo Stadium.
Lake View's defense will have its hands full against a Tigers' squad that put up over 300 yards through the air against Pecos last week. Senior quarterback Seth Cooper completed 16 of his 30 pass attempts for 311 yards and four TDs in the win. Most of those yards went to senior Ethan Rios. The receiver hauled in 12 catches for 275 yards and two TDs.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday in Snyder.
