2 Wall Baseball Players Named to Small Town All-America Team

 

WALL, TX — Wall High School’s Gunnar Dillard and Gage Reichenau were each named to the Maxpreps Small Town All-America Team.

Only 60 players in the country received the honor.

Dillard, a catcher who has signed with the University of Oklahoma, hit .515 with five home runs, 12 doubles, three triples and 63 RBIs. 

He was also named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Super Elite Team, winning Gold Glove honors, and he was named to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State team. 

Reichenau was named the THSCA Class 3A Player of the Year after a junior season in which he posted a perfect 14-0 record with a 0.55 ERA and 101 strikeouts. He was also named to the THSBCA all-state team.

The two players helped Wall win its second state title in program history in June.

The Small Town All-America Team recognizes players from towns with less than 10,000 people and schools with less than 1,000 students

The National Player of the Year was Zach Hare of Riverside High School in Pennsylvania, while the Coach of the Year was Jason Smith of West Lauderdale in Mississippi.

The All-America team also included the Major League Baseball's No. 1 overall draft pick, Eli Willits of Fort Cobb-Broxton of Oklahoma.
