SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo teenager Avory Hartsfield reeled in a largemouth bass last week that broke the junior angler waterbody record at Twin Buttes Reservoir.
Hartsfield’s catch weighed in at 10.85 pounds, which would surpass the previous record of 7.6 pounds caught in 2010 by Dani Watson.
Hartsfield’s fish was also measured at 26 inches, which is four inches longer than the previous record.
The fish was caught June 27, 2025.
The record must still be certified by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department before it becomes official.
The biggest largemouth bass ever recorded at Twin Buttes was in 1991 when Greg Benson caught a 14.25-pounder. That fish was also 26 inches long.
