RICHARDSON, TX – Angelo State student-athletes Jacob Guerrero and Katelin Heise have been named Lone Star Conference Scholar-Athletes for the 2024-25 academic year, the conference announced Tuesday.
The LSC Scholar-Athlete Award is presented annually to one male and one female graduating student-athlete from each member institution, recognizing academic achievement, athletic excellence and leadership. Honorees must have competed in their sport for at least two seasons.
Guerrero, an accounting major from Colleyville, was a standout performer for the Rams baseball team. He hit .401 with a 1.113 OPS, collecting 89 hits, 19 doubles, four triples, and seven home runs. He also scored 75 runs, drove in 52, walked 41 times, and stole 20 bases. Guerrero earned two All-America honors this season and was named to both the LSC All-Academic Team and the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
Heise, a graduate student in Coaching, Sport, Recreation, and Fitness Administration, captained the Rambelles to a 14-2-5 record and their first-ever NCAA regional final appearance. She helped lead Angelo State to both the LSC regular-season and tournament championships.
A three-time All-LSC First Team and all-region selection, Heise played in 91 career matches—second-most in program history—and made a program-record 88 starts. In her time at Angelo State, the Rambelles won 62 matches, making her the winningest player in program history. She was named a USC Scholar All-American in December.
Both student-athletes were previously recognized with Angelo State Athletic Academic Excellence Awards in April.
