WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. August Pfluger (TX-11) was named Most Valuable Player of the Republican team in the 2025 Congressional Baseball Game for Charity, held Wednesday, June 11.
Pfluger, who played third base, was recognized for a "game-changing" defensive play and his pitching performance, which helped secure a decisive 13-2 Republican victory over the Democrats. The win marked the fifth consecutive victory for the GOP team.
The annual bipartisan event, which brings together lawmakers for a night of baseball at Nationals Park, raised a record $2.8 million for charities benefiting children and families.
Pfluger played baseball at San Angelo Central High School and at the Air Force Academy.
