Ballinger Lake Stocked With 50,000 “Lone Star Bass”

BALLINGER, TX — Ballinger Lake was stocked with approximately 50,000 “Lone Star Bass” on Tuesday, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

The fish are pure Florida strain largemouth bass exclusively from broodfish produced from Legacy Class (13-plus pound) entries into the Texas ShareLunker program.

Dubbed “Lone Star Bass” to denote their special significance to Texas, the unique fish are made possible by the partnership with anglers who loan their fish to the program.

Ballinger Lake, located about five miles west of the town of Ballinger, has a “good amount of shoreline aquatic vegetation, which will serve nicely as cover for these fingerling largemouth bass,” according to TPWD.
