Ballinger Promotes Gayoso to Head Football Coach, Athletic Director

BALLINGER, TX — Longtime assistant coach Bryan Gayoso was named the new head football coach and athletic director at Ballinger High School on Tuesday.

Gayoso, who served as the passing game coordinator last season, is heading into his 11th year with Ballinger.

He has also overseen a successful boys track program during his time with the school.

Ballinger’s previous head football coach and AD, Ty Lang, stepped down in May to accept a job as an assistant coach in Stephenville.

Gayoso will inherit a Bearcats team that went 5-6 last year and reached the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

Gayoso is a San Angelo Lake View graduate who won the silver medal in the 800-meter run at the Class 4A state track meet in 1990. He went on to compete at Angelo State and Texas Tech.

He has spent 21 years in teaching and coaching.
