BROWNWOOD, TX — The Wall Hawks faced off with Jacksboro in the second of a three-game series on Saturday, May 24, for a shot at the state semifinals. Reid Ballard delivered six shutout innings on the mound to help propel the Hawks to a 2-0 victory.
Hear from Head Coach Jeremy Gordon after the win below:
The defensive battle began in the Hawks' favor, with Wall scoring one run in the bottom of the 1st inning. That one-run lead would last until the bottom of the 4th when the Hawks managed to score one more.
Caleb Braden kicked of the bottom of the 4th when he beat out an infield ground ball for a hit. He then stole second and third base to put the Hawks in a prime scoring position. Jacob Braden then stepped up to the plate, hit an RBI-single, and gave the Hawks a 2-0 advantage.

That 2-run lead would be all Wall needed to claim victory. Ballard pitched six total innings, allowing no runs. Kellen Oliver stepped on the mound in the 7th to bring home the Regional Championship. Jacksboro managed to get two on base, but Wall's defense came through in the end to end the contest.
The Hawks now move to the State Semifinals, where they will face Boyd. The date, time, and location of that matchup are still TBD.
