Angelo State Has Strong Day 1 at National Track Meet

 

PUEBLO, CO – The fifth-ranked Rams and 17th-ranked Rambelles wrapped up the first day of the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday.

The Rams are currently in 12th in the team standings with five points after the opening day.
 
Oleg Ananev earned First-Team All-American honors after finishing fourth overall in the pole vault, clearing a height of 5.32 meters (17 feet-5.5 inches).
 
After Day 1 of the multis, Mark Burdin is second overall in the decathlon with 4,052 points. He finished first overall in the shot put while taking second in both the long jump and high jump.
 
In the heptathlon, Maricia Spence sits in fifth overall with 3,320 points through four events, while Kylie Frush is 15th with 2,808 points.
 
Rami Balti turned in the third-fastest time in the prelims of the men's 400, winning his heat with a time of 46.06 to advance to the finals.
 
In the women's 400 hurdles, Shackelia Green finished 16th overall with a time of 1:00.66, while Esma Pajt took 16th in the women's hammer with a mark of 53.42 meters (175-3).
 
The championship meet continues Friday morning.
