Rams Rolling into Super Regional

Angelo State (46-8) swept through the South Central Regional, eliminating Lubbock Christian in the opener and defeating St. Edward’s twice in tight contests to reach its fourth consecutive Super Regional under the current postseason format.

Ethan Flodstrom and Lane Hutchinson each hit multi-run home runs against LCU, while Jacob Guerrero’s sacrifice fly in a 1-0 win and clutch ninth-inning RBIs from Hutchinson and Weston Valasek in the regional finale highlighted the Rams' resilience. Pitchers Dax Dathe, Luke Olson, and Josh Reed combined to shut the door in each of the three wins.

Scouting the Patriots

UT Tyler (46-11), the No. 2 seed, also advanced unscathed through its regional bracket. The Patriots defeated MSU Denver 12-3 and then took down Colorado Mesa twice by a combined score of 24-8.

The Patriots rank second in the LSC with a .347 team batting average and are among the top three in runs (539), hits (643), doubles (128), home runs (67), and RBIs (485). On the mound, UT Tyler leads the LSC with a 3.66 team ERA, anchored by starters Rawley Hector (78 strikeouts) and Kyle Froehlich (17 runs allowed). Relievers Nick Niebur (1.43 ERA) and Garrett Arredondo (seven saves) bolster a deep bullpen.
