Angelo State Rams One Win Away From Regional Title After Shutout

SAN ANGELO, TX – A third-inning sacrifice fly proved to be the difference as the top-ranked Angelo State baseball shut out St. Edward's by a final score of 1-0 on Friday night at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.

The win marked the Rams' ninth shutout of the 2025 season, improving their record to 47-8. With just one more victory, the Blue and Gold will clinch a spot in the South Central Super Regional for the fourth straight season.

The game's lone run came in the bottom of the third. Justin Harris jumpstarted the rally with a one-out double down the left field line. After Ethan Flodstrom drew a walk, the Rams executed a double steal to move both runners into scoring position. Jacob Guerrero then lifted a sacrifice fly to left-center, bringing home Harris for the go-ahead—and ultimately game-winning—run.

Dax Dathe delivered his seventh quality start of the season, going seven strong innings, allowing just five baserunners and struck out seven while throwing a season-high 103 pitches.

Luke Olson took over in the eighth and was flawless in relief, retiring all six batters he faced and striking out two to secure his sixth save of the year.

Angelo State will look to punch its ticket to the NCAA D-II South Central Super Regional when it faces the Hilltoppers again at 2 p.m. Saturday at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
