Wall Hawks Place 2nd Overall at State Track Meet

 

AUSTIN, TX — The Wall Hawks came within inches of a 3A state title in the final moments of the state track meet in Austin on Thursday night. Wall finished runner-up in the overall team standings after an incredible performance in all three relays that saw the Hawks finish with 64 points overall in the standings. Holliday claimed the title over Wall with 66 points.

Wall capped off its incredible day off with a state title in the 4x200-meter relay. The team of Evan Boehle, Ruben Marin, Hagynn Barbee, and Briggs Jones crossed the finish line as the top team in the state with a 1:26.84.

The Hawks also finished 4th in the 4x100 and 2nd in the 4x400. Wall recorded a personal best in the 4x100 (41.76) and came within inches of another state title in the 4x400 (3:18.01).

Brigg Jones finished his track career in a Wall uniform in the best way possible. The young man finished his day on the podium in three different events. Jones finished 2nd in the Triple Jump, 2nd in the Long Jump, and 1st in the 4x200-meter relay. He added a 6th place finish in the 100-meter dash.

Other strong performances that added points to the team total included Bryson McFarden's 7th place finish in the High-Jump, a 6th place finish from Slayton Hallmark in the 110-meter Hurdles, and finally, Gavin Scisson's 6th place finish in the 300-meter Hurdles.
