RICHARDSON, TX — The Lone Star Conference recently announced that Angelo State senior pitcher Dax Dathe is the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday after tossing a complete-game shutout to help the top-ranked Rams clinch the league’s regular season title.
Dathe, a Coaching, Sport, Recreation and Fitness Administration major from Round Rock, Texas, needed just 58 pitches to complete his second shutout of the season in a road win over Cameron. He allowed four hits, struck out eight and walked only one, permitting just one runner to reach second base.
The victory made Dathe the Lone Star Conference’s only eight-game winner this season and solidified Angelo State’s position atop the standings.
The Rams will open the Championship Round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament on Thursday, May 8, on their home field.
