Angelo State Softball Splits With Top-Ranked West Texas A&M, Earns LSC's No. 3 Seed

 

RICHARDSON, TX — The Angelo State University softball team is ranked No. 7 in the nation, but the Rambelles will only be the third seed in the Lone Star Conference Tournament.

ASU finished the regular season with a split at home Sunday against the nation’s top team, West Texas A&M. The Belles won the opener 7-0 before losing the nightcap 6-2.

ASU improved its record to 43-11, including a 34-10 mark in LSC play.

The Belles will open the conference tournament at 11 a.m. Thursday against No. 6 seed Eastern New Mexico (30-24) in Canyon.

The rest of the first-round matchups includes No. 1 WT (50-4) vs. No. 8 St. Edward’s (27-27), No. 2 UT Tyler (49-4) vs. No. 7 Cameron (29-23), and No. 4 Oklahoma Christian (36-18) vs. No. 5 Lubbock Christian (35-19).
