Christoval Basketball Coach Blalock Takes Granbury Job

CHRISTOVAL, TX — After a successful two-year run at Christoval, girls basketball coach Brad Blalock recently accepted the same position at Granbury.

Blalock led the Lady Cougars to a record of 58-16 the last two seasons, which included district titles playoff runs to the regional semifinals each year.

Christoval was 28-8 this past season and upset No. 5-ranked Whiteface 27-26 in the area round. The Lady Cougars’ season ended with a 50-47 loss to Farwell, which went on to lose in overtime of the state final.

Blalock will be jumping from the Class 2A level at Christoval to the 5A ranks in Granbury. He’ll inherit a Lady Pirates team that went 19-15 last year and finished in fourth place in district before a first-round playoff exit.

Christoval will have to replace six seniors from last season, including two players who are moving on to play at the collegiate level — Halle Hughes (Angelo State) and Madyson George (Central Christian College of Kansas).
