SAN ANGELO, TX — Top-ranked Angelo State will close out its regular-season road schedule this weekend with a four-game Lone Star Conference baseball series at Cameron, beginning Friday at McCord Field in Lawton, Oklahoma. First pitch for Friday’s doubleheader is set for 3 p.m., followed by a Saturday night matchup at 5 p.m. and a Sunday finale at 1 p.m. Game times were adjusted due to anticipated weather on Saturday.
The Rams (39-7, 37-7 LSC) enter the series riding a 19-game winning streak against the Aggies (13-31, 13-31 LSC), including a 24-1 victory in their most recent meeting on Feb. 11. While Angelo State has dominated the all-time series 63-14, eight of those losses have come in Lawton, where Cameron has managed to avoid being swept at home this season.
Angelo State is coming off a four-game sweep of Eastern New Mexico. The series featured a dramatic comeback from a 9-0 deficit in game two and standout performances from senior Lane Hutchinson and left-handed starters Alizaeh Gutierrez and Ryan Free. Hutchinson batted .403 over the weekend with two home runs and 10 RBIs, while Gutierrez and Free combined to allow just two runs across 15 innings.
Cameron, meanwhile, was swept last weekend by Lubbock Christian and outscored 58-25 in the series. Offensively, the Aggies are batting .275 as a team, led by Zane Roos, who owns a .364 average and leads the squad in several key offensive categories. On the mound, Victor Munoz has been a workhorse for Cameron, tossing three complete games with a team-best 6.05 ERA.
