RICHARDSON, TX — Angelo State freshman Bri Waters was named the Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Week on Tuesday, earning the first conference honor of her collegiate career.
Waters posted a standout performance at the plate, hitting .800 with an .857 on-base percentage and a 2.000 slugging percentage. She was hit by a pitch in her only plate appearance against Eastern New Mexico, then reached base five times during a doubleheader against Western New Mexico.
The freshman drove in five runs across the two games against the Mustangs, highlighted by two home runs among her four total hits.
Waters, an exercise science major, is batting .200 on the season with three home runs and nine RBIs. She has a .425 slugging percentage and a .340 on-base percentage.
She has also contributed in the circle, compiling a 2-0 record with a 2.30 ERA. Waters has earned two saves and recorded 20 strikeouts over 24.1 innings pitched.
This marks the seventh weekly honor for the Rambelles this season and the second time an Angelo State player has been named LSC Freshman of the Week.
