Bull Euthanized After Fall During San Angelo Rodeo Finals

SAN ANGELO, TX — A bull was euthanized after falling Friday during the San Angelo Rodeo finals at CRC Roofers Coliseum.

The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association made the announcement Saturday morning that the bull, Surprised, was euthanized after being examined by a veterinarian.

“When a rodeo athlete goes down, our team of medical professionals are on the scene to provide the adequate care,” the announcement stated. “During Friday’s championship round of the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo, the Pickett Pro Rodeo bull, Surprised, fell during the competition. After a thorough examination by our on-site veterinarian, Dr. Edmiston determined Surprised suffered a spinal episode and that the best treatment was to have the animal humanely euthanized.

“Our animals are loved and cared for by their owners, and this freak incident is difficult for all involved. Please help us in extending prayers for Surprised and our friends at Pickett Pro Rodeo.”

The San Angelo Rodeo will hold two more events this weekend — the all-star Cinch Chute-Out on Saturday and the Tejano Day Extravaganza on Sunday.
