SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 1-ranked Angelo State University baseball team will play its final home series of the regular season this weekend when the Rams host Eastern New Mexico.
The series will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
The two teams will play a doubleheader at 4 p.m. Friday and a 1 p.m. finale Saturday.
ASU (35-7 overall, 33-7 in the Lone Star Conference) will take a five-game winning streak into the series. ENMU (26-16, 24-16) has been hot lately with 14 wins in its last 19 games.
The Rams have generally dominated this rivalry, winning 74% of the games and scoring over eight runs per contest. However, the Greyhounds snapped a 21-game losing streak against ASU with a series split last year in Portales.
Though this is ASU’s regular-season home finale, the Rams will have more chances to play at home in the postseason, beginning with the LSC Tournament on May 2-4.
The Rams lead the nation in numerous offensive categories, including batting average (.378), doubles (114), hits (499), on-base percentage (.501) and runs (464).
ASU will close out the regular season next week at Cameron.
