Angelo State holds a 61-42 all-time record against the Buffs, including a 26-21 mark in Canyon. The Rams went 4-2 against WT last season, including back-to-back wins to eliminate the Buffs in the 2024 NCAA DII South Central Regional in Grand Junction, Colorado.
The Rams come off a hard-fought home series against St. Edward’s, taking three of four games. Despite a rare loss on Saturday—marking their ace’s first of the year—ASU rallied with timely offense throughout the weekend. Key contributors included Jacob Guerrero, Austin Beck, Ethan Flodstrom, Chase Pendley, Blake Wilhoite, and Brett Smajstrla.
On the mound, Dax Dathe continues to impress. The right-hander struck out eight over six innings in his latest start and now ranks third in the conference with 57 strikeouts.
Scouting Report
West Texas A&M enters the weekend fourth in the LSC standings. The Buffs have dropped five of their last eight, including a series loss to St. Mary’s and a split with Lubbock Christian.
At the plate, WT boasts a .333 team batting average, ranking fourth in the LSC. Power threats Dylan Fesperman (11 HR) and Kyle Micklus (10 HR) are among the conference leaders in home runs.
Pitching-wise, WT leans on starters Matt Milner and Max Lankford. Lankford holds a team-best 3.77 ERA, while Milner leads with 55 strikeouts
