SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Central High School’s Elsa Reel was presented Tuesday with the Greater Texas Ford Dealers 6A Female Athlete of the Month award.

Reel, a junior swimmer, qualified for the state meet in February in four events to earn consideration for the honor.
She competed at state in the 200 medley relay, the 400 free relay, the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke.
She also holds seven school records and is an 11-time district champion.
Greater Texas Ford Dealers released a statement on their decision to name her Athlete of the month.
"Elsa Reel is a standout junior varsity swimming athlete from Central High School in San Angelo, known for her incredible work ethic and impressive accomplishments. She qualified for State in all four of her events—the 200 Medley Relay, 200 IM, 100 Breaststroke, and 400 Free Relay—showcasing her versatility and skill in the pool."
"A dedicated student and athlete, Elsa puts in the work both in the water and in the weight room, while maintaining excellence in the classroom. Holding an astounding seven school records across various events, including the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle, 200 IM, 500 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, and 400 Freestyle Relay, she is a force to be reckoned with. Elsa has also earned the title of district champion 11 times and was a key member of three district champion teams, cementing her legacy as one of the top swimmers at Central High School."

Reel was presented with the Greater Texas Ford Dealers Female Athlete of the Month award during a ceremony at Central’s Gus Clemens Aquatic Center.
Other February winners include El Paso Burges wrestler Joy Jackson (5A), Canyon Randall softball player Landri Holcomb (4A), Winnsboro basketball player Payton Green (3A), Frankston basketball player Wila Davis (2A), Santa Anna basketball player Kamyn Hale (1A) and Lubbock Christian basketball player Raegan Lee (private school).
