Texas, TCU Women Advance to Sweet 16

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Lone Star State is sending two women’s basketball teams to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

No. 1-seeded Texas and No. 2 TCU each won convincingly to punch their tickets to the regional semifinals.

Texas (33-3) routed No. 8 Illinois 65-48 on Monday, while TCU (33-3) cruised past No. 7 Louisville 85-70 on Sunday.

With one more win each, Texas and TCU will collide in the Elite Eight.

First, Texas has to get past No. 5 Tennessee on Saturday. TCU will play Notre Dame the same day.

No. 4 Baylor wasn’t able to join its Lone Star State rivals in the Sweet 16 after getting tripped up by No. 5 Ole Miss 69-63 on Sunday.
