Angelo State Rams Extend Winning Streak to 6 With Sweep

SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 6-ranked Angelo State University baseball team swept Texas A&M International in a four-game series over the weekend to extend its winning streak to six games.

The Rams’ high-scoring offense, which had scored at least 11 runs in seven straight games, was finally held in check in Sunday’s series finale.

However, ASU won on the strength of its pitching and defense in a 4-2 victory.

Ryan Free didn’t allow an earned run in 5.2 innings on the mound to pick up the win. He allowed only two hits, walked none and struck out seven.

The Rams scored a combined 43 runs in the previous three games of the series, winning 20-3, 12-7 and 11-0.

Austin Beck nabbed his 100th career stolen base in the series opener to break the Rams’ program record.

ASU improved to 24-6 overall and 22-6 in Lone Star Conference play.

The Rams are also now 17-1 on their home turf at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.

ASU will play again in a four-game series at Texas A&M-Kingsville that begins at 6 p.m. Friday.

The Rams’ next home appearance is April 4-6 against St. Edward’s.
