SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 4-ranked Angelo State University softball team begins a 10-game road trip this weekend with a massive series against No. 3 West Texas A&M.
The Rambelles (26-4) are 17-3 in Lone Star Conference play, while WT (28-2) is 18-2 in LSC action.
The only other team in contention for the LSC regular-season title is No. 1 UT-Tyler, which is also 18-2.
The Belles are on a seven-game winning streak after sweeping a pair of doubleheaders last weekend, which included rallying from a 5-1 deficit in the final inning against Western New Mexico.
ASU head coach Travis Scott is two wins away from reaching 1,000 for his career.
The Belles’ offense is hitting .300 as a team, led by Laylonna Applin with a .478 batting average. Applin leads the country in total bases with 91.
Cheyenne Floyd leads ASU’s pitching staff with a 14-2 record. She has a 1.34 ERA, 86 strikeouts in 78.1 innings, and a .156 opposing batting average.
The Belles won’t play at home again until April 6 against Lubbock Christian.
