San Angelo Lake View’s Jefferson Takes Third at State Powerlifting Meet

 

EDINBURG, TX — San Angelo Lake View’s Janiya Jefferson earned third place Friday at the Class 4A Division I girls state powerlifting meet at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg.

Jefferson had a total lift of 1,085 pounds, which was 55 pounds behind the champion, Big Spring’s Quasett Woodruff, in the 242-plus class.

Jefferson’s deadlift of 440 pounds was the most at the state meet in any weight class.

She also had a 425-pound squat and a 220-pound bench press.

Jefferson earned three points for Lake View in the team standings, giving the Maidens a 14th place finish at state.

Beeville Jones won the meet with 26 points. Port Lavaca Calhoun was second with 20, followed by Decatur with 12 and Big Spring with 9.
