Angelo State Rambelles Await Regional Tournament Fate After Loss to Texas Woman’s

FRISCO, TX — The Angelo State University women’s basketball team lost 71-58 to Texas Woman’s on Saturday in the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament at the Comerica Center in Frisco.

The Belles were the No. 5 seed in the tournament, while TWU is the top seed and the No. 1-ranked team in the country in NCAA Division II. TWU is on a 24-game winning streak.

ASU’s record fell to 18-12, and the Belles will now have to wait until 9:30 p.m. Sunday to find out if they’re selected for the South Central Regional Tournament next week.

ASU was ranked No. 8 in the most recent regional rankings, so the Belles are right on the bubble. A win over No. 4-seeded Eastern New Mexico on Thursday helped bolster their case.

TWU (30-1) will play Lubbock Christian (29-3) for the LSC Tournament title at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Keniah Williams led ASU on Saturday with 16 points, nine rebounds and four blocks.
