Christoval Hires McLean as Head Football Coach, Athletic Director

CHRISTOVAL, TX — Former Comanche defensive coordinator Tanner McLean has been named the new head football coach and athletic director at Christoval High School.

McLean takes over for Casey Otho, who stepped down after nine years to become Christoval’s intermediate principal.

McLean, an Angelo State University graduate, spent the last four seasons at Comanche, helping the team compile a 25-11 record over the last three years.

He also served as the head boys track coach.

McLean had other coaching stops at Breckenridge, Burnet and Lampasas.

"My vision for the athletic program is to instill a culture of discipline, toughness, respect, and drive," McLean said in a Facebook post. "All while shaping young men and women into well-rounded individuals who make their school and community proud. I am committed to fostering a positive environment that promotes growth, teamwork and excellence. Thank you for this incredible opportunity. My family and I look forward to becoming an integral part of the Christoval ISD community. GO COUGS"

McLean inherits a Christoval team that was 4-7 last year. Despite the losing record, the Cougars rallied down the stretch with wins over Sonora and Ozona to earn second place in District 3-2A Division I.
