Former San Angelo Central Golf Standout Honea Wins West Texas Classic

ABILENE, TX — Abilene Christian University junior Ryann Honea won the individual title Tuesday at the West Texas Classic in Abilene as heavy winds brought a premature end to the tournament at Abilene Country Club.

Honea put together rounds of 67 and 71 to win by five shots over Tarleton State’s Darianys Guzman.

Honea was the only golfer to finish the tournament under par.

A 2022 graduate of San Angelo Central High School, Honea won the UIL Class 6A state title in 2021.

She has now won five individual titles at ACU, including the Western Athletic Conference Championship last year.

ACU, which won the team title, will compete again next week at the Riverbend Intercollegiate in Sugar Land.
