Navy SEAL Jump Team to Parachute Into Foster Field in San Angelo on Saturday

SAN ANGELO, TX — A team of retired Navy SEALs will parachute into Foster Field before an Angelo State University baseball game Saturday, March 1.

Frog-X Parachute, which has performed at high-profile events such as the World Series in 2021, will jump before ASU’s second game of a doubleheader with St. Mary’s.

The game is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the jump will take place no earlier than 6:40 p.m., said Thurman Ragsdale, the grassroots engagement director with Concerned Veterans for America, which is the title sponsor of the event.

“This was initiated through Kappa Sigma, and one thing everybody needs to know is that out of over 300 Kappa Sigma fraternities in the nation, (the San Angelo chapter) was No. 4 in the nation in community service hours last year, and they did all of it for veterans,” Ragsdale said.

The purpose of the event is to try and raise a goal of $15,000 for the SEAL Legacy Foundation, which is dedicated to providing support to families of wounded and fallen United States Navy SEALs, educational assistance for SEALs and their families, and other charitable causes benefiting the SEAL community.

“We need big sponsors and little sponsors. It doesn’t matter,” Ragsdale said. “Any big sponsors will be mentioned during the check presentation.”

The ASU baseball team, which won the national title in 2023 and was the national runner-up last year, is ranked No. 2 in the country in NCAA Division II.

The Rams (14-2) are on a 10-game winning streak heading into the series with St. Mary’s (10-4). The series begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by the 4 p.m. doubleheader Saturday and a 1 p.m. finale Sunday.
