SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University basketball teams will each host crucial games Thursday in their final home appearance of the season.
The Rambelles will play UT Permian Basin at 5:30 p.m. at the Junell Center, followed by the Rams’ game at 7:30 p.m.
Both teams can lock up a spot in the Lone Star Conference Tournament with a win.
The Belles are tied for fifth in the Lone Star Conference standings with a 12-9 record, but they’re only one game ahead of UTPB and Midwestern State in a tie for eighth.
If they lose, they’ll still likely make the LSC Tournament — as long as Midwestern State doesn’t upset No. 12-ranked Lubbock Christian — but the Belles could fall to as far as the No. 8 seed.
For the Rams, they’re tied with UTPB and West Texas A&M for seventh place with a record of 12-9.
ASU is in with a win. If the Rams lose, they’ll be knocked out if West Texas A&M defeats Eastern New Mexico. Otherwise, they’d still sneak in as the No. 8 seed because they own the tiebreaker over WT.
The LSC Tournament will be held March 7-9 at the Comerica Center in Frisco.
