Angelo State Softball Goes 4-1 at Home Tournament

SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 11-ranked Angelo State University softball team suffered its first loss of the season last weekend, but the Rambelles had an overall successful showing at their home tournament.

ASU went 4-1 at the George & Ola McCorkle Challenge at Mayer Field to improve to 9-1 on the season.

After winning their first seven games of the year, the Belles were tripped up in a 1-0 loss to Missouri Western on Saturday.

They responded with a 3-1 win over Ouachita Baptist later in the day and a 5-3 victory over Texas A&M-International on Sunday.

ASU defeated Missouri Western 3-2 in their first meeting Friday and Ouachita Baptist 6-2.

The Belles continued their stellar pitching and defense as they’ve allowed only 11 runs in 10 games, led by pitchers Cheyenne Floyd and Amelia Hatthorn, who have each picked up four wins.

ASU will play again when it hosts Oklahoma Christian in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Friday to open Lone Star Conference play.

The Belles will also host Cameron in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Sunday.
