SAN ANGELO, TX — No. 2 Angelo State hosted UTPB at Foster Field over the weekend for the start of the 2025 Baseball season. It went very well for the Rams. Over the four games the two teams played, the Falcons never came closer than eight runs to the Rams.
Angelo State began the four-game series on Friday with a 10-0 shutout. On Saturday, a high-powered offense lifted the Rams over UTPB 18-3 in the early game before the barrage continued with an 11-3 win in the late game.
Finally, on Sunday, two home runs, a three-run shot from Brett Smajstrla and another from Weston Valasek, allowed Angelo State to run-rule the Falcons 12-1.
Overall, Tayten Treadaway had the most impressive weekend for the Rams. The young man finished the weekend leading the team with 11 hits. He had four doubles and 10 RBIs on the weekend. On defense, Nick Wilson, Dax Dathe, Ryan Free, Clayton Broeder, Scott Ellis, Keene Kreusler, Caleb Heuertz, Seth Foster, Alizeah Gutierrez, Jude Stephens, and Luke Olson all saw action on the mound.
Wilson, Dathe, Kreusler, and Heruertz all picked up the wins.
Next up, the Angelo State Rams (4-0) hit the road for the first time this season when the blue and gold travel to Tyler, Texas, to take on UT Tyler.
