ASU Track and Field Claim Six Provisional Marks in New Mexico

 

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Angelo State track and field teams posted six NCAA Division II provisional marks at the Dr. Martin Luther King Invitational hosted by New Mexico over the weekend.

Ram's Highlights:

  • Oleg Ananyev cleared 5.32m (17-5.5) in the pole vault, the second-highest mark in Division II this season and the best by a Division II athlete at the meet.
  • Antonio Blair and Adrian Nethersole were the top two collegiate finishers in the 600-meter, placing third and fifth overall with times of 1:17.69 and 1:18.51, respectively.
  • Josh Body secured a provisional mark in the triple jump for the second straight meet, finishing seventh overall with a leap of 14.81m (48-7.25).
  • The 4x400-meter relay team of Taylor Briggs, Nethersole, Blair, and Kacy Kincade posted a provisional time of 3:12.04, finishing fourth overall.
  • Kincade also placed fourth in the 400-meter dash, running 49.03.

Belles’ Highlights

  • Jacent Nyamahunge recorded two provisional times, finishing sixth in the 400-meter dash at 55.49 and ninth in the 60-meter dash at 7.50.
  • The 4x400-meter relay team of Shackelia Green, Nyamahunge, Kylie Frush, and Lainey Jernigan led all Division II competitors, finishing sixth overall with a provisional time of 3:50.80.
  • Green was the fastest finisher in Section B of the 60-meter dash, clocking in at 7.74.
  • In Section B of the women’s pole vault, Camryn Barros placed fourth overall with a clearance of 3.37m (11-0.75).
  • Marie Schuler finished eighth overall in the women’s weight throw, registering a mark of 16.38m (53-9).

Up next, the Rams and Rambelles return to competition next week as they travel to Texas Tech for their next meet, beginning Thursday, Jan. 30.
