SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University softball team will open the 2025 season ranked No. 11 in NCAA Division II, but the Rambelles are only third in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll.
Defending national champion UT-Tyler is the country’s No. 1 team and tops the LSC poll, while No. 13 West Texas A&M is picked to finish as the LSC runner-up.
ASU senior pitcher Cheyenne Floyd was named the LSC Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
The reigning LSC Pitcher of the Year, Floyd went 20-10 last season with a 1.89 ERA. She struck out 167 batters in 163 innings of work, holding opponents to a .207 batting average.
Floyd is one of 13 returners from last season's team, which went 37-18 overall and 28-14 in LSC play. They finished third in the conference and qualified for their 18th NCAA Tournament appearance in the program's 23rd season.
ASU opens its season Jan. 31 at the DII First Pitch Invitational in Conroe, where they will take on reigning RMAC Tournament champion Regis, MIAA champion Pittsburg State, and No. 21 Colorado Mesa.
The Belles open their home schedule on Feb. 7-9 when they host the ASU George and Ola McCorkle Challenge presented by West Texas Steel.
