DALLAS, TX— The Dallas Cowboys will have a new head coach.
The Cowboys front office and former head coach Mike McCarthy could not reach an agreement and now it looks like Jerry Jones will have to find another coach.
McCarthy made the playoffs in three of the five seasons he was with the team and has a 49-35, 1-3 in the playoffs, record over that time.
On paper, it’s hard to argue that the Cowboys weren’t worse off going into this season than going into past seasons. It also difficult to say that McCarthy didn't do an admirable job after so many key injuries to quarterback Dak Prescott, edges DeMarcus Lawrence and Sam Williams, linebackers Micah Parsons and DeMarvion Overshown, cornerbacks Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland, and guard Zack Martin, among others.
The strange thing is the Cowboys refused the Chicago Bears to interview McCarthy and waiting until Monday, after the Wild Card Weekend, where you could interview guys like Lion’s Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson or Defensive Coordinator Aaron Glenn. That wouldn't be very Cowboys anyway. Fans should be thinking Jon Gruden or Pete Carroll.
Although, this does open the Deion Sanders debate.
One would think the Cowboys would be a dream job but, after the last few seasons, who would want to coach this team? Waiting on contracts, refusing to sign free agents, and not resigning players who are free agents.
This does come back to the offseason where the Cowboys were supposed to be going “All In” this season and signed linebacker Eric Kendricks and running back Royce Freeman.
Names like Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, and Josh Jacobs were on the market last offseason, and the Cowboys ended up resigned Ezekiel Elliott. Down the stretch, Rico Dowdle played well and finished with over 1,000 yards. But Dallas could’ve added a difference maker.
Now adding into the circus, the Cowboys will have to find a new head coach, likely a coaching staff, figure out contracts for Micah Parsons, DaRon Bland, and Tyler Smith, and figure out what to do with aging stars Zack Martin and DeMarcus Lawrence.
Also, Jerry has to feel some way that former coaches Kellen Moore and Dan Quinn each won playoff games this weekend.

When will they ever figure out, JJ is more about making that money off the worlds most valuable franchise than he wants to win football games.
