Gordon’s defense jumped out to a hot start early in the 1st quarter when they stopped Whiteface on their opening drive on 4th down. The Longhorns would score a play later to start what would be an excellent day for Gordon.
However, Whiteface proved that they deserved to be in this matchup midway through the 2nd quarter. After falling behind by several scores early, the Antelopes battled back to within 12 points with a chance to get even closer before Gordon slammed the door shut on a comeback. The Longhorns intercepted Whiteface on two straight drives to take a commanding 40-point lead at the half.
It only took Gordon a single drive in the 3rd quarter to secure a 46-point victory and a 70-24 State Championship.
Ry Reed was named defensive MVP, while Stryker Reed claimed offensive MVP honors.
Gordon finished the 2024 season with a perfect 15-0 mark and another state championship. Meanwhile, Whiteface made their first state championship appearance and finished with an outstanding 14-1 record.
The Antelopes may not have won the state title this season but they proved that Whiteface can compete with anyone in the state.
