San Angelo Native Named Arizona Offensive Coordinator in Big 12

SAN ANGELO, TX - Seth Doege, a San Angelo native and the fourth-leading passer in Texas Tech history, has been named the new offensive coordinator for the Arizona Wildcats in the Big 12 Conference.

Doege, 35, served as Marshall University’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2024, helping the Thundering Herd to a 10-3 season and a Sun Belt Conference championship. Despite Marshall ranking 71st nationally in total offense at 382.8 yards per game, the team’s success led to head coach Charles Huff accepting a position at Southern Mississippi, leaving Doege’s future in limbo before Arizona extended the opportunity.

Before his time at Marshall, Doege coached at Purdue under Graham Harrell, another former Texas Tech quarterback, and held coaching roles at Southern California, Bowling Green, and Ole Miss.

Doege began his high school career in the small West Texas town of Crane. He transferred to Frenship after his sophomore years, but knee injuries prevented from playing his junior and senior seasons.

Despite the injuries, Doege became a standout at Texas Tech, throwing for 8,636 yards and 69 touchdowns during his collegiate career from 2009-2012. His tenure included an upset win over No. 3 Oklahoma in 2011 and an 8-5 record in 2012, capped by a Texas Bowl victory.

The Wildcats’ offense under Doege will face challenges, including replacing star wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who has declared for the NFL Draft. Arizona finished 97th nationally in total offense in 2024, averaging 354.5 yards per game.

Arizona won’t face Texas Tech until 2026 when the Wildcats travel to Lubbock.
