LAS VEGAS, NV — San Angelo cowboy Dylan Hancock won his first-ever round at the National Finals Rodeo on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old had the night’s fastest time in the tie-down roping competition with a run of 6.7 seconds to win Round 7 and earn $33,687. He edged Montana's Haven Meged by 0.4 seconds.
San Angelo’s three competitors in the event have now all won a round this year as Ty Harris won Round 3 and his brother, Joel Harris, won Round 5.
They’re all next to each other in the overall standings with Ty Harris in fourth place ($276,986.42), Joel Harris in fifth ($221,351.35) and Hancock in sixth ($213,085.60).
Neither of the Harris brothers cashed Wednesday as Joel was 10th in 9.4, while Ty was 13th in 12.8.
There wasn’t significant movement at the top of the leaderboard. Denton’s Riley Webb still has the overall lead ($368,719.09). Clovis, New Mexico’s Shad Mayfield is just over $12,000 behind him.
