LAS VEGAS, NV — San Angelo cowboys had another strong showing Sunday during Round 4 of the National Finals Rodeo.
This time, it was Dylan Hancock who led the way.
The 20-year-old, who is making his first NFR appearance, took third place in tie-down roping with a time of 8.2 seconds to earn $17,115.
Hancock’s performance vaulted him from 12th to seventh in the overall standings.
Ty Harris, who won Round 3, clocked an 8.7 Sunday to finish in sixth place to pocket $5,433.
He remains in third place overall.
Joel Harris was the only San Angelo cowboy who struggled with a 14th-place showing after a time of 22.8.
He was third in Round 3, when all three local competitors had top-five finishes.
Joel Harris fell from sixth to eighth in the overall standings.
Defending world champion Riley Webb continued his torrid start in Las Vegas by winning Round 4 in 7.5 seconds.
Webb has won three of the first four rounds, and he was second in the other, launching him to a big lead with $354,592.20 in season earnings, more than $41,000 ahead of second-place Shad Mayfield and more than $86,000 ahead of Ty Harris.
The 10-day competition will continue with Round 5 on Monday.
