Wall Hawks Blitz Littlefield to Reach Regional Final

SWEETWATER, TX — The No. 4-ranked Wall Hawks slowed down Littlefield's high-scoring offense in a 56-21 win Friday in their Class 3A Division II regional semifinal football game at the Mustang Bowl in Sweetwater.

Littlefield was averaging 49 points per game, but the Wildcats were stifled much of the game, while Wall's offense stole the show.

Landon York threw for 300 yards and five touchdown passes to five different receivers, while Thomas Leanos added 230 rushing yards and two long TD runs.

Briggs Jones also showed what an X-factor he is, returning a punt for a TD and taking a screen pass 73 yards for another score. Jones finished with six catches for 143 yards.

Wall lost Lane Stansberry on its opening drive when he was injured on a TD catch. Stansberry is also a defensive lineman and kicker. Freshman kicker Tyler Klinesmith stepped in and was 8-of-8 on extra points.

Reid Robertson, Evan Boehle and Kyler O'Neal also had TD catches.

Ethan Michalewicz had a team-high 19 tackles and a sack. Garrett Guy had 17 tackles.

Wall led 28-7 at halftime and 42-14 at the end of the third quarter.

Littlefield's season ended with a record of 8-5.

Wall improved to 12-1 and will play Canadian next week in the regional final at 6 p.m. Friday at Lubbock's Patriots Stadium.

This will be the third straight year Wall and Canadian have met in the regional final, with Canadian winning both of the previous matchups.

Canadian hung on to beat Idalou 27-21 in the other regional semifinal after an interception on fourth-and-goal on Idalou's final drive.
