Mason Punchers Run Past Weimar in Area Round

 

GEORGETOWN, TX — The No. 6-ranked Mason High School football team cruised to a 56-28 win over Weimar on Friday in a Class 2A Division I area-round playoff game.

The Punchers' offense churned out 559 yards, including 401 yards on the ground.

Running back Sutton Silerio had 16 carries for 231 yards and three touchdowns, along with two catches for 70 yards and a TD.

Quarterback Carlton Schmidt had 10 carries for 162 yards and three TDs. He completed 5 of 7 passes for 158 yards and two TDs, including a 72-yarder to Mitchell Underwood.

It was the 11th straight win for Mason (11-1), which advances to play Marlin (9-3) next week in the regional semifinals. That game is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Park's Gupton Stadium.
