Playoff Win Slips Away for Miles in Final Minutes Against Lindsay

BROCK, TX — Despite a comeback that saw Miles take its first lead in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs weren't able to hang on late in a 34-27 loss to Lindsay in their playoff opener Thursday.

Miles trailed 14-0 and 21-7 but rallied to tie the game in the third quarter, then went ahead 27-21 early in the fourth quarter.

Everything got away from Miles in the last few minutes, however.

Lindsay tied the game with 3:44 remaining on a short TD run by Simon Thurman. Then the Knights intercepted a pass on Miles' ensuing drive.

After Lindsay reclaimed the lead at 34-27 on a TD scamper by quarterback Lane Foster with 1:41 left, the Knights sealed the win with another INT.

Miles (8-3) posted an eight-win season for the third straight year, but the Bulldogs were certainly capable of adding a couple playoff trophies with this team.

It was a difficult first-round matchup against a dangerous Lindsay team that was the No. 3 seed in a district with two Top 10 teams.

Lindsay improved to 8-3 and advances to play Windthorst next week in the area round.
