Angelo State Rams Bring Home LSC Title With Win Over Western Oregon

MONMOUTH, OREGON — For the fifth time in program history, the Angelo State University football team is the Lone Star Conference champion.

The Rams shook off an early scare Saturday and put Western Oregon away late for a 38-16 win that secures the LSC title with one week remaining.

The 2024 Rams join ASU’s other conference champs from 1978, 1984, 1987 and 2022.

ASU's defense turned in another incredible performance. The Rams have allowed an average of eight points per game during the last seven weeks.

ASU led 17-13 at halftime after Western Oregon blocked a punt and recovered it for a touchdown late in the second quarter.

An 80-yard TD pass from Braeden Fuller to Zorhan Rideaux early in the third quarter gave the Rams some breathing room at 24-13.

After the Wolves pulled within 24-16, ASU took control for good with a 33-yard TD pass from Fuller to Rideaux for a 31-16 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Cameron Dischler put the finishing touches on the win by taking a pass 68 yards for a TD with 7:22 remaining.

It was the eighth consecutive win for ASU, which improved to 8-2 overall and 8-0 in LSC play.

The Rams will finish the regular season next week at home against West Texas A&M at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.

Fuller was 13-of-25 passing for 315 yards and three TDs, doing most of his damage with big plays.

Rideaux had three catches for 124 yards and two TDs. Kyle Bradford had three catches for 63 yards.

The Rams' rushing attack was contained with 41 carries for 113 yards, led by Dischler's 37 yards.

Though ASU has the LSC title locked up, the Rams could still benefit from a win over West Texas A&M next week. The Rams were fifth in the last regional rankings, and a move into the top four would give them a home game to start the playoffs.
